If your imagination carries you to other worlds, or if visions frequently fill your head, pestering you until you can create them, then this site is for you.
If you feel called to create something that you don’t see out in the world, then this site is for you. As Christian creatives, we must build a subculture of Christlike worldbuilders, as C.S. Lewis told Tolkien:
“Tollers, there is too little of what we really like in stories. I am afraid we shall have to try and write some ourselves.” ~C.S. Lewis
“Living in a fantasy world” best describes my childhood, and I’m sure many of yours as well. Creativity and imagination nourished my upbringing, and I haven’t weaned off either. I honestly consider the child-adult divide to be a false dichotomy: adults should always retain the innocent wonder and faith of their childhood (Matt. 18:3).
J.R.R. Tolkien called us “sub-creators” because we’re made to fashion art from the artistic world God has made. We’re meant to create in his image.
This site is for those Christians who need to create, and has a trifold goal:
1. Exploring the importance of Christian creativity
2. Offering Biblical nourishment for creative spirits
3. Developing our imagination as an act of worship
This place is an oasis for Christian creatives. I hope you find encouragement to reflect God in your own unique art form. Besides offering my own struggles and musings on the creative life (as a writer and filmmaker), I want to foster confidence in our worth as individual sub-creators made in the Creator’s image.
So whether you’re a musician, writer, painter, poet, photographer, filmmaker or any other creative, I hope you’ll find encouragement to use your art as a way to love God and others.
